Orthotic Prescription

Orthotic Prescription

Orthotics are devices placed in the shoe to encourage correct alignment of the foot. Misalignment of the foot causes imbalance in posture and places stress on parts of the foot and the rest of the body leading to symptoms such as: foot pain, arch or heel pain, leg & knee pain, lower back pain, bunions & blisters, toe deformities and calluses & corns.

In the clinic patients are assessed and if necessary a cast taken (plaster of Paris), and following assessment and measurements with tractograph and musculoskeletal assessment, casts are forwarded to a podiatric laboratory for construction of devices relevant to a patient’s requirements.
